HELLO, I'M JULIE.

I am a Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow in Language and Literacies. I have been involved in the development of teacher education programmes in Scotland and the Middle East, emphasising inclusive and culturally relevant pedagogy to promote learning in diverse contexts. I have published on threshold concepts in becoming a teacher.  Over the past ten years I have worked on research projects which explore the role played by children’s literature in supporting teachers/mediators working with New Arrival children. My work is connected to the use of critical hope and multimodal storytelling in the creation of transformative narratives, which can be used to challenge prevalent negative discourses and recount positive stories connected to identity, language and migration.  Currently I have been looking at the possibility of building stories within 3D platforms.
