HELLO, I'M EVELYN.

I am Professor or Children’s Literature at the University of Glasgow and is Leader of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree programme, “Children’s Literature, Media and Culture”. I have taught and published widely both nationally and internationally on a range topics related to children’s literature, especially picturebooks and young readers. My research examines the role of books for children alongside themes of migration, conflict and peacebuilding. Recent projects include the AHRC-GCRF Research Network: “Children’s Literature in Critical Contexts of Displacement: Exploring how story and arts-based practices create ‘safe spaces’ for displaced children and young people” and the British Academy GCRF funded project ““Educational Peacebuilding in Medellin and Acapulco: Understanding the role of education, culture and learning in responding to crises”.
