HELLO, I'M DOBROCHNA.
Dobrochna Futro is a lecturer at the School of Education, University of Glasgow. She is an interdisciplinary scholar with a background in art, education and language teaching. Her research focuses on translanguaging, multilingualism, art-based inquiry, language learning, teaching and use in multilingual, often migratory contexts. She engages with creative methods of enquiry, participatory, collaborative art-based research and pedagogies. Dobrochna has led and supported several research and KE projects exploring the relationship between art practice and language learning, incl. Multilingualism through Art project (with Lavinia Hirsu, University of Glasgow, colleagues at SCILT and Bilingualism Matters), Creative Practices: Exploring Translanguaging Research in Pedagogical Contexts and Beyond (with Lavinia Hirsu and Sally Zacharias, University of Glasgow), Dancing through Language Learning and Multilingual Devised Theatre projects (with Marta Nitecka Barche, University of Aberdeen). She has worked with teachers in Scotland, Poland and Vietnam, (co-)developed CPD courses and teaching resources. She currently leads the Education, Languages and Internationalisation Network (ELINET) Language Education and Multilingualism strand with Dr Melike Bulut Albaba, Sheffield Hallam University, the European Network for Junior Researchers in the Field of Plurilingualism and Education (ENROPE) Language Teachers Development SIG with Marta Maria Röder, Universität Siegen and convenes a cross-university Multilingualism Reading Group at the University of Glasgow.
